Gannet

This is a bright, semi-abstract representation of a gannet coming in to land on the cliff edge. I tried very hard to keep movement in the picture, focusing on the wings and the legs. The gannet’s eye is tiny, and I have been tempted to paint it in larger than life. So far, I have resisted that temptation!

This is an unusual subject for me to paint, but I love the result.

The painting is acrylic on canvas and is currently unframed.
